Maytag Dutch Oven "George" 40 1/4"

$2,500.00

Meet "George", our Jetson-ish Maytag Dutch Oven. "Jane" (his wife, as you may recall from the Hanna-Barbara animated TV series), is the name we've given to pretty much the same Maytag Dutch Oven seen next to this listing (see more detailed description there).

The differences are: this one has enameled cabinet interiors and an incandescent surface light, plus, a small, unique and intriguing feature: at the top surface of the left storage door is a viewing port. By slightly opening the door, one can look down into the port and monitor the deepwell's flame while turning it's dial to adjust it, due to a mirror in the door reflecting the flame's image. Wow! Talk about attention to detail. That's why we LOVE vintage stoves, and that's why we especially love this Maytag.

In very excellent "as found" condition.

Dimensions are W: just under 40.25" x H: 36" to cooktop surface (46" to top of dials on backsplash) x D: 25" back to front of door panels.

*Match-lite oven. We can install an auto-lighting standing pilot oven safety system at extra cost.

========================

DO NOT CLICK TO PURCHASE any stove. Email/call us to discuss, but before you do so, YOU MUST READ THE FOLLOWING:

The stoves you are about to look at HAVE NOT YET BEEN SERVICED. IE: they are in the same condition as when we pulled them out of a house (There are a few exceptions). While we only acquire stoves that we determine are in good condition, you must understand that they have been used for 60+ years and most likely have never been serviced.

We will schedule your stove for service once we have secured a 50% non-refundable purchase commitment. Prices shown includes all original standard parts and full mechanical servicing, with minor repairs (IE, a long list of work that we know any stove will require). (Clocks/timers cannot be repaired). Also included is full exterior cleaning and light interior cleaning.

Extra Costs: Be aware that “Major repairs” may be required, usually to replace a bad thermostat or oven safety valve, or repair broiler lift mechanisms, rotisserie motors, etc., each requiring extra work and extra cost). It is impossible to know if your stove requires any major repairs until we encounter them while doing our work. We highly recommend asking us about “preemptively” replacing/repairing thermostats or other vital components in order to extend the service life of your stove.

Full interior cleaning, delivery, and installation available at extra cost. Restoration of chrome, enamel, etc. is NOT included and is generally NOT available.

Many of our stoves have “match-lit” ovens, IE, the oven must be lit with a match/hand-held sparker, etc. anytime it is used. Conversion to an auto-lighting oven safety system, utilizing a thermocouple safety valve with standing pilot, can be done for around $950/oven on most stoves.

If you or your shipper are picking up a stove: We charge to expertly load or assist loading your vehicle ($250 for single oven stoves, $500 for double oven stoves over 40”), assuring a fast, safe load without injury to body, stove, or vehicle. If you do not want us to assist/load, we roll your stove to the street, rain or shine, and remove it from our rolling platform. We provide no advice, tools, padding, boxes, etc. Either way, you should bring at least two 16' ratchet straps with 1"-2" webbing, packing material, packing blankets, 2-3 storage bins to hold parts. If you use/keep our rolling platform to load your stove into your vehicle, the charge is $50
